Saturday
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Joe. It's Day 1 and he's doing great - as Joe always does. He is on a pain pump, still on oxygen, has 3 drainage tubes, a catheter, colostomy bag and lots of IV's, but so thankful they were able to figure out what was going on. He is being well cared for under Dr. Ong's supervision and we thank God for bringing Dr. Ong into our lives. He is truly the best doctor we have ever met. He saved Joe - - no question about it. Joe was alert today and learned about everything that happened. He was brought to tears of thankfulness, as were the rest of us. He said to tell everyone thanks for the prayers and that to tell everyone that it truly is a testament of faith. So a huge thanks to God and to all of you for praying and believing.
Joe has a long road ahead and will be here for at least 2 weeks. They have to keep him hydrated and let the bowel heal completely before he can eat or drink anything. It's going to be a long 2 weeks with nothing to eat or drink, but like Joe said "I can do anything as long as I know what the game plan is and I know where the finish line is". A true athlete.
As always, thanks to all for your overwhelming support. It is incredible and we are forever grateful to each and everyone of you.
All our Love,
Sherrie, Joe and family

I'm glad to hear he is responsive. He amazes me! I promise to keep up the prayers....
ReplyDeleteCan Joe have non-family visitors while in the hospital? I'd like to visit this Wednesday if it's possible. If not I'll wait until he's back home in Tempe. Thanks, and also thanks to everyone for keeping us up-to-date on how Joe is doing. Please give him regards and best wishes from the Elstons.
