He's at Peace
Joe is resting in peace. He passed at 8:14am. More to follow.
Joe fought an unbelievable fight along with his unbelievable family. May he rest peacefully and the rest of us celebrate knowing what amazing life we have had just being friends of his.
Brother Joe: a man, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a guide for others to emulate. It's not "goodbye", but we'll see you later. Brother Jim Pendleton
We are so blessed to be a part of your life journey. We love and will miss you, Joe. Sherrie and girls, we are keeping your family in our prayers - Moe and Robin
Joe will never be apart from you, for he has left his love in each of your hearts. Joe will never be forgotten and always remembered may he have the peace he so deserves. Love and prayers - Garrett and Tammy Doughty
I have never met Joe, but I followed his story because a lady I work with truly loves him. I have kept him and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I wanted to share that today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima. He was a holy man and I believe Our Lady was with him this entire journey...bringing him home to her Son. Love to all of you and continued prayers. Gina
From Diana Flores: Truly sorry to hear about Joe. Joe was an amazing person, friend and collegue. Everyone who knew him at Honeywell will miss him dearly. God be with him and the family.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Karen Guiliani Phillips
Joe was the best son-in-law anyone could ask for. We will miss him so much. Life will not be the same without Joe. He was one in a million. We will all be together again some day. We love you Joe. Ed & Shirley
Joe Kahler - role model for husbands and fathers everywhere. We were blessed to know him and share so many years on the periphery of this incredible family. Healing prayers are sent to the amazing Kahler quartet he leaves behind to carry on his legacy. Love and respect, Davis Family
I am sorry to say that it has been some 38 years since I had seen Joe. I would like to have him know that he was never forgotten to this once young kid who looked up to him as an outstanding athlete and an honest and decent person.
I would like to say this to Joe's brother Norm (Mr. Kahler to me). You, Mr. Kahler, live in my memory as one of the finest examples of honor and integrity which I've ever known. I remember you in that rare way; that it's as if 1976 were only yesterday. I am forever thankful to have had your influence on my life.
May God continue to bless you all. Clay Jones (formerly Starling)
I came across this poem recently at the end of a book I was reading. When I finished reading it and wiping the tears from my eyes, I knew I had to share it with you all. I believe that Joe would have wanted me to.
"When Tomorrow Starts Without Me"
A poem by David Romano (copyrighted 1993)
When tomorrow starts without me And I'm not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry The way you did today; While thinking of the many things We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me ... As much as I love you; And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me Please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name And took me by the hand.
She said my place was ready In heaven far above; And that I'd have to leave behind, All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye; For all my life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for, So much yet to do; It seemed almost impossible, That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, The good ones and the bad; I thought of all the love we shared, And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday Just even for awhile, I'd say goodbye and kiss you And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized That this could never be; For emptiness and memories Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things I might miss come tomorrow; I thought of you, and when I did, My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates I felt so much at home; When God looked down and smiled at me From His great golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity And all I've promised you; Today your life on earth is past, But here it all starts anew."
"I promise no tomorrow, But today will always last; And since each day's the same day, There's no longing for the past."
"But you have been so faithful, So trusting and so true; Though at times you did do things, You knew you shouldn't do."
"But you have been forgiven And now at last you're free; So won't you take my hand
And share my life with me?" So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart ... For every time you think of me, I'm right here ... in your heart.
We're praying for Sherrie & the girls to find peace and strengh during this difficult time. Know that you are loved & cared for both near and from afar.
I did not know Joe but I used to work with Amanda and have been following Joe's blog. I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was obviously a wonderful man. I hope you are blessed with many beautiful memories of your dad. God bless you and your family, Amanda. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Erin B

When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today;
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me ...
As much as I love you;
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand.
She said my place was ready
In heaven far above;
And that I'd have to leave behind,
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye;
For all my life, I'd always thought
I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for,
So much yet to do;
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad;
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday
Just even for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things

My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates

So when tomorrow starts without me,
